The Food Pantry of the Community Compassion Network (CNN) continues to provide food here in Mt. Pleasant for those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need is great. Donate online to CNN to help them purchase food.
The September special collection is for the CMU Student Food Pantry, which works to alleviate the challenges and hardships of food insecurity that many CMU students encounter during their academic career. If you prefer to pay with a check, please make it out to: CMU, with Student Food Pantry on the memo line.
Great need continues for many people in our community for assistance in meeting the basic needs of life. Please bring non-perishable food items (canned goods) in addition to sundries such as baby items, paper products and personal care products for donation. Your offerings will be collected by the children at the opening of the worship service on Sunday. Thank you in advance for caring for our less fortunate neighbors!
Your contributions to the Food Pantry last month were excellent and appreciated by those who benefited. We took over 50 items that weighed over 50 pounds. We get a letter which lets us know that our contributions are useful and greatly appreciated. They know that the UU's are doing something for the group of people in need.
We have another 1st Sunday on April 6 and I would like to take even more items to the center. Dry and canned foodstuff are always welcome but they especially need paper materials and personal hygiene products. They also need cash, so that they can get some things that are not always donated. We have a reputation to maintain that UU's are a giving group!! Questions? Call or see Tom Moffit (772-1602). When shopping this week, please consider buying a few more items to donate to our collection this Sunday, March 2. Those coming to the Food Pantry depend upon the generosity of those of us who can provide a little extra. Items for personal use (tissues, toilet paper, lotions, tooth paste, etc.) are particularly needed, along with canned and dry foods. Cold weather is particularly difficult for those in need. Thanks for your help.
